Oscar Fashions

by admin on Mar.29, 2010, under General

So I’m sure that you all, as well as me, were glued to your television last night watching the Oscars.  And, if you are like the majority of the female viewing public, you were more interested in the fashion than the films.  Who looked amazing?  Well for sure, Sandra Bullock.  She was my favorite; her dress just exuded Hollywood glam and elegance.  I also loved Zoe Saldana, although this may not be the popular choice.  Her dress was daring, but she paired it with understated hair and makeup to create a beautiful look.  And last, but certainly not least, was the lovely and divine Carey Mulligan.  It seems as though she can do no wrong with that striking pixie cut, but she definitely knows her fashion as well, and her Prada dress was young and fun.  She is definitely one to watch for future awards shows.

Everyone Loves a Cupcake

The last book I read was by Cupcake Brown, a woman who survived homelessness, drug addiction, prostitution and sexual abuse to become a partner at one of the most prestigious law firms in San Francisco.  I loved this book because it was a true story, and those are my favorite types of novels to read.  That is because I like to know that what I am reading actually happened in real life.  That way, the story is believable and it is easier for me to relate to it.  Another reason why I loved this book is because it was so inspirational, and it made me see that no matter what you have gone through in life, there is absolutely no excuse for making excuses.  You can achieve anything you want as long as you put your mind to it.

No Food is Bad

by admin on Mar.22, 2010, under General

I am one of those cursed people.  I am one of those unfortunate individuals who is absolutely in love with food. It doesn’t even matter if I am not so in love with the cuisine, I can always manage to find some dish that I am attracted to and can latch on to.  And by latch on to it, I mean become addicted to it and order take out to satisfy my cravings.  I guess if you could grab an underlying theme from all the food I like it would be that of course, they are all bad for you. And it doesn’t do much for the waistline. I love everything, you name it: Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Italian, Fast Food, French, and West coast.  I love all food and I wish that would stop but it won’t.  Instead, the types of foods I like to eat can be reflected on my body!

Repeat After me Please

by admin on Mar.19, 2010, under General

I wish I could dazzle you and say that my daily schedule is fascinating, interesting and exciting.  Well, unfortunately, it truly isn’t.  In fact, I have a perfectly repeated daily schedule from Monday to Friday.  I set my alarm every morning to wake up at 7:20am.  I wake up at this time and then snooze until 7:50am in my bed because although I have to wake up everyday at that time, I am still constantly exhausted and not accustomed to it.  After that, I brush my teeth, wash my face, do something to my hair that doesn’t take longer than two minutes, and then I am out the door with a granola bar in hand.  The same granola bar I eat every single morning.  Then I drive thirty minutes to work, work until 5pm, come home, and do nothing until I go to sleep.  And that’s the life of a boring individual!

Most Powerful Man in the World

by admin on Mar.15, 2010, under General

Now, I am not huge on politics, or for that matter, American politics, but I would love to meet Barack Obama.  How could anyone not want to meet this man?  Whether you are a democrat or a republican, you cannot deny that he is the most powerful man in the world, as well as the most influential and captivating.  Furthermore, he has made history as being the first African American president, and just to know how he feels about that accomplishment alone would be fascinating.  I would also love to find out from him how he really feels about Canada, and what his for future relations between our two nations is.

The longest job I ever held was at the Home Depot.  I worked at that job for four years, and trust me, it wasn’t due to the large amounts of fun I was having wearing an orange apron and steel toe shoes.  Instead, I worked at Home Depot all throughout my university degree because it was a steady job which paid higher than your average minimum wage salary.  On top of that, I was giving tuition reimbursement, so they paid for fifty percent of my tuition and books each semester.  For a student, that is a pretty sweet deal and I couldn’t possible leave that job for something that was more flashy and exciting, but did not offer the same rewards and benefits.

Gold Rush

by admin on Mar.07, 2010, under General

The coolest event I have ever gone to, without a doubt, was the 2010 Olympic Men’s Gold Medal Hockey Game.  It just recently passed, so it is fresh in my mind, and boy was it great.  First off, it staged one of the biggest rivalries that exists between nations.  The battle was between Canada, and the USA.  You could not have asked for a better scenario.  And then, to be a Canadian living in Vancouver, and to be able to attend that game, well, it was just priceless.  Furthermore, it was the most exciting game from a hockey perspective that any viewer could have asked for.  Canada was leading 2-1 until the last thirty seconds of the game, just when they thought they had won gold, and the US team scored to tie it.  That type of thrilling excitement is what makes a legendary game.  Canada went on to win the game in overtime, and the atmosphere in the arena was truly electric.

Unreasonable Time

by admin on Mar.05, 2010, under General

If I could choose on place to travel to, however off beat and unrealistic it may seem, I would choose to travel back in time.  I am currently twenty-three years old, have been graduated from university for almost a year, and am working at my first steady, 9-5 job.  It case that requires a translation for you, I am going through the new wave of a mid life crisis.  Is this a foreign concept to you?  Well the new wave of a mid life crisis happens when students, who are no longer students, have just entered the work force, and are screaming inside to have the days of their youth come back.  Whoever said fifty is the new thirty does not apply here.  In our world, twenty-five is the new fifty.  That age symbolizes the end of our youth, our realization that the days of having fun, going out every night, with no responsibilities are over.  So please, please take me back and let me travel to the days where life was carefree.
